Register for a 2-hour session on our calendar page and select your family's favorite entrées from our rotating monthly menu. Everything will be ready for you when you arrive. Or you can call to register at (319) 373-5577 or 888-380-COOK (2665).
Prepare to have some fun! Following our kitchen-tested recipes, you will travel from station to station, assembling the prepared ingredients into freezer-ready containers.
After your entrées are labeled with cooking instructions and ingredients, they are ready to go home with you. Don't forget to bring a basket, box or large cooler to transport your entrées home to your freezer or refrigerator.
When you are ready, simply thaw and cook the entrée, which will serve up to 6 people. If you have a smaller family, most entrees can be divided into half. 12 entrees will make 24 prepared entrees serving 2-3 people. Six entrees can be divided into 12 smaller dishes.
A variety of non-alcoholic beverages will be provided during your session, as well as a sample of an entrée from the next month's menu.
You will be saving time and money, with less grocery shopping and clean up. Home-cooked meals without the hassle, all with a fun experience at the Cooking Cottage!

Does Cooking Cottage offer pick up and delivery?
Yes! We can prepare your entrees for you just the way you like and have them ready to pick up at a time convenient for you. Delivery is available too in the Cedar Rapids, Marion and Iowa City areas.

Is it possible to split each entrée into two?
Yes, if you have a smaller family, most entrees can be divided into half. A 12 entrée order will make up to 24 smaller entrees serving 2-3 people each. A 6 entrée order may be divided making up to 12 dishes.

May I split the entrées with someone?
Bringing a friend or family member with you to Cooking Cottage is fun! Just register both of you under one reservation with your 12 or 6 menu choices. When you arrive, you and your friend will have fun dividing your entrées between the two of you. You and your guest may either divide your full-size entrées between yourselves, or split your entrées in half with each of you taking home smaller entrées that serve 2 to 3 people. (Please keep in mind that some entrées can’t be divided in half. These are noted in the "Menu" section of this web site.)
Due to space constraints, we ask that you please notify Cooking Cottage when you are sharing your session with a friend. Please let us know the name of your guest in the "comments" section of your reservation.

May I bring my children with me to my Cooking Cottage session?
Preparing entrées together at Cooking Cottage can be a terrific family experience. And many parents have told us that kids helping Mom and Dad assemble entrées is the best cure for the picky eater!
You are the best judge of your child's maturity level and patience for a two hour cooking session. When you register, please let us know in the "Comments" section the number of children that will be coming with you so we have room for everyone.

What if I don't care for a particular entrée?
No problem! You may choose up to three of any of the available menu items to total your 6 or 12 entrée package.

What is the best way to cook the entrées at home?
Cooking Cottage provides labels for all entrées and side dishes with cooking instructions. These cooking instructions are guidelines. Everyone's cooking devices - ovens, slow cookers, grills, gas stoves, electric stoves, etc., - operate a little differently so, please keep an eye on the entrée while it's cooking, if possible.

May I prepare the entrée to suit my taste?
Yes! We have a variety of spices and seasoning to "customize" your entrée. If you don't care for an ingredient, leave it out.

Are beverages provided during the session?

How do I transport my food home?
We recommend that you bring a laundry basket, box, or large cooler to transport your meals immediately to your home freezer or refrigerator.

When is the earliest I can register for a session?
We post each month's rotating menu of kitchen-tested entrées during the first week of the previous month. You may register when the new menu is posted. For example, you may register for the July sessions when the new menu is posted the first week in June.

When is the latest I can register for a session?
You may register for a session at any time. We do ask you to call us if registering less than 24 hours before a session to ensure availability.

Can I make a standing monthly reservation?
Absolutely! If you would like to make sure that you have a spot in a certain session each month (for example, the third Thursday 6 PM session), please call to arrange this service.

What if I have to cancel my session reservation?
We understand that certain situations come up which may require you to cancel or reschedule your reservation. Because we place your food order prior to your session, we require a 72-hour cancellation notification to receive a 100% refund. You may also apply your payment towards a future session or a pick up order. Cancellations providing less than 72-hours notice will receive a 50% refund.

What if the weather is really bad at the time of my session?

What methods of payment do you accept?
The Cooking Cottage accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover cards online. We also accept these cards, debit cards, checks and cash at the store. Cooking Cottage also accepts Electronic Benefits Cards from the USDA Food Assistance Program.

Should I own a deep freeze?
The size of a typical freezer in a refrigerator is normally not large enough to hold much more than 12 monthly Cooking Cottage entrees. Many customers find that having a deep freeze, even a smaller one, is helpful. A five-cubic-foot chest freezer is often less than $150 in area chain stores.
